The Little River Marina is one of
those quintessential spots in east Jackson County where anyone local knows you can always enjoy an iced cold beer while looking out over the swirling brown water of the east Pascagoula River.
The marina has been a one-stop shop for as long as I can remember, offering fuel, bait, ice, beer, and definitely a good time. But like anything that has been around for awhile, a good overhaul is never a bad idea... especially when it comes to food. Old Blackwater (OBW)
is the newly renovated restaurant at the Little River Marina and, y’all, it is every bit worth the drive. Owners Tonya and Frankie Brown have always known it was a special place and they’ve given it just the right amount of love to make it extra special.
The first thing you’ll notice with
your food at OBW is that everything is prepared with love and lots of it. Chef Creola Brazzle has sprinkled her magic
dust all throughout each one of her simple, yet so delicious creations. And let me tell you, Mrs. Creola can cook! Everything is made fresh to order and it definitely shows. We started off with two of our all-time favorite appetizers: tuna dip and fried green tomatoes. The Two- Step Tuna Dip offers a generous portion of smoked tuna blended with mayo, onions, and spices. Dee’s Fried Green Tomatoes are fresh cut and battered
to order and served alongside house remoulade. Add an overstuffed Chef Salad and Creola’s secret recipe gumbo to the mix and you’ve got the perfect meal for two. However, I wouldn’t stop there.
OBW offers a great variety of sandwiches, platters, and entrees. It’s hard to know exactly where to start. The Cumbest Bluff Club is hands down the best club sandwich you can find. Stacked high with all your favorite club sandwich items and served with house onion
