CHEERS TO 10 YEARS!
As a little girl, Lindell Asher was always drawn to the dresses and high heels in her Aunt Jackie’s closet. “Friday nights at her house were filled with fashion shows and lipstick! Now every day is like a Friday night fashion show,” says the owner of DeJaVu Formal Boutique.
At her boutique, she loves helping women to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. “When a woman walks in my store nervous to try on gowns and walks out smiling with confidence because she feels beautiful, it’s a win for me,” she says.
Asher gives young female entrepreneurs this advice, “Stay motivated, true to yourself, and believe in your ability to achieve your goals. My favorite quote is: ‘Never get so busy making a living that you don’t make a life.’ Balance is key.”
She believes it’s important to support other woman-owned businesses. “When women succeed, we all benefit,” she says. “We should give back more to our community which will create a ripple effect.”
Many people may not know that
she originally opened DeJaVu as a consignment shop offering furniture and clothing nine years ago. “It was not until 2016 when I had the opportunity to buy the inventory of a formal shop going out of business that I transitioned my store,” she recalls. “I have watched the store grow over the years into something I never would’ve dreamed I would love so much.”
Asher’s favorite thing to do on the Coast is spend time on the islands. “There is nothing better than being on the boat enjoying the day that the Lord has made,” she affirms.
