“Every time we've moved it's been a sign of growth and improvement,” Brackin says. “I'm thankful for the growth and our loyal customers.”
It all began in 1989 when she won a wreath making contest and was featured in Woman's Day magazine. This hard worker was on her way first selling wreaths from her home and overcoming setbacks along the way. She's done a variety of jobs, including cleaning houses, selling produce, and doing laundry for workers who came to help after Hurricane Katrina.
“I've had to do some stuff,” Brackin says and can laugh about the time she used a relative's old van from which she sold decorative items. “It was raining and I turned on the windshield wipers; the one on the driver's side just immediately flew off.”
Sadie Jane's opened in 2008, creating all manner of wreaths and selling decorative home pieces. The wreath-making business came first and Brackin says it gave birth to the other shop, Sadie Jane's Fresh.
Now in the spacious new location, the wreath making business features home and seasonal décor for all holidays and seasons. And there are plenty of available options for do-it-your-self decorators.
Many people ask about the name, assuming Sadie is Brackin's name. But no, Sadie was Brackin's beloved grandmother. “I always liked the name Sadie,” she says. “When I put Sadie with my name, it didn't sound right so I thought Jane would sound cute.”
