The Indispensable Denim Jacket
Listen up, ladies! If you do not own a classic denim jacket, run, do not walk to buy one or two or three. Denim jackets are truly indispensable wardrobe items. They’re always in style, affordable, versatile, great for layering, and can pull most any look together. Best of all, they flatter nearly every body type. Denim jacket colors, lengths, sleeves and decorative details vary, but their traditional sturdy fabric and classic style hold true.
WARDROBE STAPLE
Jean jackets have traditionally been favored as wardrobe staples because they can be worn throughout the year. They easily function as transitional pieces from season to season. They can be beautifully paired with pants and dresses of all types especially when thoughtfully and fashionably combined with proper footwear, jewelry, and other accessories. A little creativity is all it takes to shop in your own closet and see how many ways you can showcase that treasured denim piece.
FOR WORK OR PLAY
Denim jackets are welcome additions to most any ensemble. Throw one over casual pants and a tank top
or tee shirt. Add boots and chunky jewelry and you’re good to go for most any night out. Throw one over dress pants, a collared shirt, kitten heels or comfortable flats and you’re good to go for the office. Don’t stop there. Try a denim jacket over a semi-formal slip dress paired with dressy pumps and statement jewelry for evening.
COLOR CHOICE
Though various shades of blue are the traditional choices, don’t shy away from other-colored denim. White, black,
and blue are safe standard selections, but a world of other neutral shades or bold and brightly colored choices can easily accommodate the savvy shopper. As a rule, the lighter washed shades lend themselves to casual wear; the darker shades are more upscale and professional. Shop around; have fun with what denim jackets have to offer color-wise and style-wise. They always delight and never disappoint.
