from an assortment of Martha’s famous, homemade salads such as the tuna salad, made with albacore tuna, or Neno’s Sweet Chicken Salad, which consists of deliciously blended chicken and a secret recipe with sweet relish. The Chutney Chicken Salad mixes chicken, wild rice, grapes, and apples with a house mango chutney and is a crowd favorite. Each of these salads are served individually,
but also pair incredibly well with Martha’s gumbo or the loaded potato or wild chicken and rice soup. A warm piece of Martha’s homemade white, wheat, or apple walnut bread makes a perfect finishing touch.
If you want something a little more indulgent, Martha’s has a number of menu staples and daily specials from which to choose. The Deli Reuben is a personal favorite, packed high with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss on fresh made marbled rye bread. If you dine at Martha’s on a Thursday, you might be lucky enough to get your hands (and spoon) on a bowl of Villers’ special Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee. Served atop a bed of rice, you’ll find shrimp, crawfish, and mushrooms swimming in a deliciously rich sauce. Be sure to get there early as this special goes fast!
Because there is always room for dessert, Martha’s boasts a beautiful selection of pies and cakes. The key lime cake with homemade cream cheese icing is simply amazing. Want something a little less tart? Indulge in the white chocolate bread pudding or white chocolate strawberry pecan pie.
Villers has loved every minute of her time as the new proprietor of this hometown staple.
