Who or what inspired you to pursue your current career? My mother, my aunt, and both
of my grandmothers. All four are and were driven individuals as well as natural caregivers, inspiring me to follow in their paths.
What I like best about what I do is: Two words: helping people. There is so much variety and autonomy in being a Nurse Practitioner. No day is ever the same, but every day is sure to encompass helping my patients to feel and look their very best internally and externally.
Advice I would give to young female entrepreneurs: Find a mentor who shares your same values and always surround yourself with friends that have ambition and goals – for who you surround yourself with is who you become.
“It’s not about the cards you’ve been dealt, but how you play the hand.” – Randy Pausch
It’s important to support other woman-owned businesses because: Supporting small locally- owned businesses and those preserved by women allows consumers to give back to their indigenous community, giving it a unique core while also supporting the bread and butter of the local economy.
What’s something interesting about you that not many people know? My husband,
Zack Duke, and I have twin one-year-old girls,
Vera Kay and Olivia Faye. I also love to decorate with antique, Victorian-style furniture, and I paint in watercolor.
What are your favorite things to do on the Coast? Favorite restaurant, etc. Boating, shing, and local arts and crafts festivals.
My greatest success has been: Professionally, my greatest success has been being given the opportunity to continue to learn daily and grow in my profession while working with the best group of surgeons, nurse practitioners, and our sta within South Mississippi Surgeons and South Mississippi Urology.
