LETTERS to the editor
LETTER from the editor
Welcome to this huge edition of South Mississippi Living. It’s full to the brim with profiles of outstanding local women and stories about women, BUT— as always — there is something for all readers this month.
For that reason,
let’s give a nod to
men readers. We
now have four male contributing writers, three of whom are in the Sports & Outdoors section. The newest is A.J. Giardina, veteran sports broadcaster who gives us an informative run down of the 2018 football season for five of the Coast’s favorite teams. No one knows sports like A.J. and we’re proud to have him on board.
The Women in
Business special
section is very
big. We encourage
you to peruse it to see what South Mississippi’s women are doing and accomplishing. They are building houses, catching big fish, taking their children to work, finding ways amidst their busy schedules to relax, sticking up for their families as only moms can do, and sharing words of inspiration.
Also for the ladies, the Leisure section gives a detailed account of how to make bracelets that will add some sparkle to life.
In honor of all women participating in this section, M2 Media Corp is making a donation of $1,000 to the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence and sponsoring a makeup drive for the center to help women look and feel their best. Please see page 82 for details.
We have an Arts story this month that’s sure to make you smile. Local attorney Michael Hewes and his mother, Sarah Hewes, have joined their writing and painting talents to produce a book that promises to be delightful. You saw it here first!
Cruisin’ the Coast will be here soon bringing thousands of visitors and fabulous cars to the area. Just so you’ll know what’s going on and when, we have a schedule and overview in the Cruisin’ special section.
Congratulations to Robin Krohn David on completing 30 successful and eventful years as executive director of the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum. She recounts many of those years in this month’s The Final Say.
