Tell us about the journey that led you to your current position: I started my journey in the dive industry in 2002 as an open water scuba diver, and I was in love. In 2004 I became a dive master, enabling me to help the instructors with classes. It was such a joy to see all the new students get certified. In January 2012, I purchased the dive shop in D’Iberville and changed the name to Adventure Locators DBA the Dive Shop. I learned everything in the dive shop with the help of Jerry Atkinson, the general manager. I’m still learning new things every day. On April 18, 2015, I became an Open Water Scuba Instructor. Now I am able to teach students.
What do you like best about what you do?
I love seeing the students’ faces when we come to the surface and they are waiting for us to say ‘you are an open water scuba diver.’
What sets you apart? Our friendly customer service and always helping everyone who comes into our shop. We make them feel at home. We always say they are a part of the dive family.
One Lesson I’ve learned.....is never give up on something you love doing.
What would you like our readers to know about your business?
We are the only five-star PADI IDC retail store in Mississippi, and we offer scuba lessons from beginner to professional
level. We are also the only shop to offer free-diving lessons on the Mississippi
Gulf Coast. We carry a full line of scuba manufacturers for purchase as well as a line of stand-up paddle boards and kayaks for rent.
