It’s Fall on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and for hundreds of local golfers, that means it’s time to play “The Slavic.” This year will be the 42nd annual Slavic Invitational, which has grown into one of the largest amateur golf tournaments in the nation.
In years past, more than 1,000 local and regional golfers have competed in the three-day, two-person Best Ball tournament. This year, The Slavic is scheduled for September 23-25 and will be played at Sunkist Country Club, Windance Country Club, Grand Bear Golf Club as well as Diamondhead Country Club Pines and Cardinal courses. Golfers play on two of these courses Friday and
Saturday and then will be flighted based on the team total score to determine what course they will play
on Sunday.
The Championship Flight and other top flights will travel to Fallen Oak to battle for the Slavic Invitational trophy.
The cost for the tournament is $650 per team and includes all golf and social activities which include a Thursday Stag Night, (ribs & chicken) a Friday night Seafood dinner and a Prime Rib dinner Saturday night. All social activities will take place at the Beau Rivage Biloxi Resort & Casino from 7 until 9 p.m. and include open bars.
