This month, it’s all about what makes the Coast economy thrive. From main streets, chambers, and downtowns to businesses large and small, these organizations are the lifeblood of our community.
For those who have been here a while, you may remember this issue better as our Business and Industry issue. Our Coastal Commerce special is a celebration
of the many thriving businesses, communities, main streets, and chambers that come together as one Coast, all for a common goal. In this section, you’ll hear
about the innovations and developments that have been made in 2024, as well as those that have been made
in decades past that brought us to where we are today. Take a deep dive into our “blue economy,” find out what’s new in the casino industry, and learn about some of the amazing businesses and organizations that make up the ever-changing tapestry of the Gulf Coast.
Of course, every issue of South Mississippi Living includes our tried and true sections, such as Coast Notes, Dining, Home, Shopping, Healthy Living, and our monthly Calendar of Events.
In this month’s Dining section you’ll discover some of our favorite eats! Now, this has never happened before, but immediately after reading Kimberly Rasmussen’s review of Salt Pepper Oak in Pass Christian, I made up my mind that I had to go. The very next day, there I was! Owner Vincent Hunt has really created something special here and has earned the awed silence of his diners as they undergo what can only be called a divine experience.
Closing out this issue, Jim Miller, executive director of the Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA), shares a personal story about his identity as a Mississippian and the beauty of our state. He also shares some
insight on the efforts being made by MMSA and some staggering economic development numbers.
