Similarly, the Military One Coast branch of the Chamber helps provide a collective civilian voice for the military installations in our area.
Founded in 1995 as Coast Centurions, Military One Coast is dedicated to the retention of the Coast’s military installations and presence. The association provides financial support to the ongoing activities and programs of work, including for the Military Affairs Committees in Gulfport and Biloxi, as well as the longstanding annual Salute to the Military.
“After a break to refresh Salute to the Military – that was extended by COVID, we’re excited to have the event return this
fall in a new format that recognizes and honors our local military partners,” said Jerry Taranto, a Keesler Air
Force Base retiree and chair of Military One Coast. “Through our partnerships, we listened and decided to
change the formal evening format to a more business casual breakfast event.” The revamped Salute to the
Military will be held October 4 at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.
“In a world that is constantly changing it is important that the Chamber is aware of what is affecting our
members – whether that is small businesses or a particular sector,” said Adele Lyons, CEO of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce. “Just as we pivoted throughout the pandemic to
support our local businesses, we will continue to look for ways to bring value to our members.”

Association, is one of the
longest running community
events in Coastal Mississippi.
Last year, Gulfport Chamber of Commerce joined its food truck festival with the drone and fireworks show – Hancock Whitney Sea of Stars for Mississippi Aquarium – for one of the Coast’s newest events.
