The historical restoration has been done by Will Manning
of Manning Restorations. Stepping inside the front door is
like stepping into the past with the 14-foot ceilings, wide plank flooring and other architectural details. On some walls the original lathing has been left bare to show the home’s strong bones. Colors are muted to give the house and its European antiques a perfect background. There are carved altar pieces, framed tapestries and nineteenth century chandeliers to name a few.
The master suite with its silk draperies from ceiling to floor is elegant underneath a pickled wood ceiling. The large adjoining bath continues the elegance in white and gold in a European style complete with bidet.
A powder room just off the foyer is small but big on charm with an unusual stone sink with a wall-mounted spigot and a wall adorned with framed beaded evening bags inherited from the owner’s grandmother.
Throughout the home gold bath fixtures and window and door hardware from England are used.
A butler’s pantry connects to the kitchen. A most unusual feature is the old bank tellers’ cage that was converted into a bar and liquor cabinet with built-in copper sink and ice maker.
The kitchen is a cook’s dream featuring every kind of appliance along with bright touches of blush pink in the leather covering a built-in banquet, tiles behind the Lacanche range, pendant lights
