HEALTHY LIVING
Living a Vitamin-Rich Life story by Luke Height
“Wow, I’m so exhausted and I don’t know why!” This statement and others could point to something that many people deal with. In fact, studies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) show that 92 percent of Americans suffer from this problem. Can you guess what it is?
While symptoms can align with several causes, the answer is vitamin deficiency. That’s right – 92 percent of Americans are not getting the right amount of vitamins, which causes a variety of symptoms that vary depending on the specific deficiency.
Remember as kids we were always told to, “eat your vitamins.” However, most of us skip out on vitamins until it’s too late. The Biostation, a well known age management and wellness center, points out that the “American Diet” is a leading cause in vitamin deficiency. Eating fast foods and processed foods often gives us a feeling of being full without offering the nutrients our bodies need.
There are a few routes to solving this problem and getting our vita- min levels back in order. First, we can start by eating a more vitamin rich diet that includes whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, meats, and so on. In addition to this, medical professionals agree that adding a quality multivitamin to your regular diet is highly beneficial.
When it comes to choosing the right multivitamin there is a lot of conflicting information floating around. To get the most personalized and useful advice, consult your doctor to see what they believe will work best for you. Age, sex, and other factors matter when choosing the right multivitamin and you want to get the best advice possible.
By eating a healthy whole food diet and taking a multivitamin, Harvard studies show that adults are likely to live 12-14 years longer than their unhealthy counterparts. If you’re noticing any of these symptoms, start making these changes and live a long, healthy, and vitamin rich life.
