U.S. News and World Report ranked seven schools in South Mississippi among the top 30 in the state, with Biloxi High School (BHS) earning the titles of number one school
on the Coast and number four in Mississippi.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Biloxi High and a great re ection of the hard work and dedication put in by the BHS sta and students,” said Biloxi Public Schools Superintendent Marcus Boudreaux. “While this recognition only mentions Biloxi High School, it is in fact a direct result of the e orts put forth throughout the entire Biloxi School
District. The education that our students receive at every level in Biloxi contributes to their success when they reach the high school. Congratulations to all that helped us achieve this distinction!”
According to BHS Principal
Teresa Martin, the rankings were determined by factors including previous school year test scores, attendance and graduation rate. She attributes the school’s ranking to its high standard of education. “We live and breathe our vision – excellence from all, for all – and that is truly the case,” she said.

THE RETIRED FLAG from the Capitol Complex will be displayed at the Mississippi History Museum.
Just one day after Governor Tate Reeves signed a bill stripping the state ag of its o cial status, the Mississippi state ag was lowered at the Capitol grounds one nal time on Wednesday, July 1. The Mississippi ag, which ew over the state for 126 years, was the last in the U.S. that featured the Confederate emblem.
While healing will not take place overnight, it’s an important rst step for our state. “This is momentous, this is a part of history, this is one of the biggest moments during my lifetime,
maybe it’s going to be during
my legislative career,” said Representative Orlando Paden, District 26, who attended the signing of the bill. “I just wanted to be here to see it through, so I’ll be able to tell my children and grandchildren that I was here.”
A commission has been appointed to design the state’s new ag,
one that cannot include the Confederate symbol and must include the words “In God We Trust.” Voters will be asked
to approve the design in the November 3 election.
