Having direct ocean access gives South Mississippi an additional leg up when it comes to liner shipping, or the transport of goods in high-capacity, ocean-going ships. Unlike many ports, the Port of Gulfport is located in
the safe yet accessible waters of the Gulf of Mexico and doesn’t require
any additional river or waterway navigation to reach.
The Port is home to 10 different tenants who rent space directly from the Port while receiving support and services from the terminal operators and contractors. Current tenants include Dole and Chiquita, who
