Mississippi Red Cross staff and volunteers were deployed to Texas and Florida to conduct disaster relief after hurricanes Harvey and Irma. And then two weeks later, more Mississippi volunteers and staff were on their way to Puerto Rico to provide relief to victims of Hurricane Maria.
A few weeks later, even more Red Cross staff and volunteers responded to Hurricane Nate, which impacted Mississippi and Alabama in October.

Chapter staff and more than 600 volunteers also trained more than 5,000 Southeast Mississippi residents and employees in life-saving first aid and CPR, collected more than 8,000 units of blood for area hospitals, assisted 1,078 area military members and their families with emergency services, and provided hundreds

In addition to providing humanitarian relief to major disasters, the local Red Cross chapter responded to more than 600 single- and multi- family fires in the past year, providing more than a half million dollars in financial and other assistance to
the victims. In an effort to reduce deaths and injuries from house fires, Red Cross volunteers installed more
of other community services. All funds raised benefit the Southeast Mississippi chapter of the American Red Cross. “Our goal is to make Mississippi safe and prepared and we can’t do that without the support of our community” McFarland said. “Thanks to the Beau Rivage we’re able to use this great event to raise a significant sum of money to support the chapter while giving our donors a thoroughly entertaining evening of
