Approximately 24 other countries will be competing in this prestigious event. In the 2017
championship, Garman’s team finished sixth of 22 teams. Individually, Garman made it to round 32 and lost to the number one player from Australia.
The International Tennis Federation is the governing body of world tennis, wheelchair tennis
and beach tennis and was founded in 1913 Garman, a citizen of Great Britain who’s lived in the United States 40 years, says it’s an honor to
represent his home country. He started playing tennis at age 10 and hopes to play well into his 90s. “My family always played. I enjoy
the competition and the great camaraderie, especially as I get in the older age group,”
he says. “I tell everyone ‘keep playing till your last breath.’”

Artists and art lovers unite for the 27th Annual Art Walk in Downtown Ocean Springs, hosted by the Ocean Springs Merchant Association. The event takes place on September 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature a mix of potters, painters, sculptors and mixed media artists.
“Ocean Springs represents a diverse art community in itself, but the Art Walk allows our community and local businesses to partner in this
fun, family event,” says Brandin Bosch of Charisma Boutique. “The Ocean Springs Art Walk is a great representation of what our wonderful city is all about.”
Attendees will be able to watch artists in action, shop for local art, eat and drink at downtown restaurants and mingle among the quaint storefronts of Downtown Ocean Springs.
“The art community is such an
important part of our city,” says Katie Hinkel of Lee Tracy and Art Walk organizer. “When you couple the art with our locally owned shops, restaurants and galleries, it makes a perfect fit for Ocean Springs.”
The event is free to attend, but you may not be able to leave without a new piece of local art!
