HOME one enchanting place
daughter, Maura, keeps things from becoming too serious. The Worches like to walk on the beach and collect drift wood. Several interesting pieces are on display in the home, including a piece used as a centerpiece on the dining table. Holes were scooped out to allow the placement of votive candles and greenery.
In the bedroom wing, framed art created by the couple’s three children adds personality in the hall. Two of the bedrooms overlook the front courtyard and the master opens onto a second, more private courtyard. “I love to lie in bed and look out at the courtyard and the big oak tree just beyond it,” Joanna said.
The master bath sports a chandelier that once hung in the dining room. The shower is no ordinary shower, but is a ‘room’ that includes a soaking tub and window.
The back deck has steps leading down to the steep back
yard with its fountain, gazebo and abundance of trees and ferns. Although Joanna likes to garden, she admits that she also likes a mixture of live and fake to faux plants around the deck and in the house. The third courtyard is adjacent to the back deck and is dedicated to Greg’s love of paddle boarding with an outdoor shower and space to store his paddle board.
“It’s been a lovely home for our family,” Joanna says. “The kids are attached to it, and the location is great. We can walk to a lot of places.”
In addition to Joanna and Greg, the family is made up of son Ethan, a student at Mississippi State University; Maura, a designer at the Beau Rivage; Kelsey, who lives with her husband Jonathan in Atlanta; and three adorable dogs, Phoebe, Rosie and Kate.
