from a size 8 1/2 to an 8.”
Now at age 37, one of the most exciting life
changes for her since the surgery has been her new career, which allows her to travel as she always dreamed. “After losing weight, I made a complete career change,” she said. “I went from sitting home everyday to flying the friendly skies as a flight attendant with American Airlines. Thanks to the weight loss, I now feel better about myself and feel as though I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.”
The confidence she feels now has helped Collins-Mitchell live her life in a more
positive way, and has played a vital role in
her mental health. “Mentally and emotionally the procedure has changed my life. I now see things with a positive aspect. I can do more things now that I have ever done,” she said.
“I can now say that I am 100 percent free from all medication. I can exercise without having chest pains and breathing difficulty. I feel like I am ready to conquer the world.”
The South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center has been helping men and women
like LaKisha Collins-Mitchell to meet their weight loss goals since their formation in 2000. Founded by South Mississippi Surgeons (SMS), they have been providing the Coast with quality surgical care for over 30 years.
