do it downtown
2017 has been a great year for the Gulfport Main Street Association (GMSA) and the City of Gulfport! “We are experiencing exciting growth in Gulfport that can be directly attributed to our distinctive character, engaged residents, and sense of place,” says Laurie Toups, Director of GMSA.
The Gulfport Main Street Association, whose mission is to rehabilitate
and rejuvenate historic downtown Gulfport, also supports a mixed-use environment, with retail, residential and commercial entities all in one district. A strong membership promotes a good community
spirit touting the great work of
many businesses, organizations
and volunteers —all helping grow Gulfport into the viable community it is today.
GMSA was presented the
“Innovation on Main Street”
award for Main Street’s creative and measurable involvement in
the Fishbone Alley project. The Innovation Award recognizes
Main Street America programs for successful, sustainable initiatives that represent new approaches to an
existing downtown revitalization challenge or opportunity. GMSA is also an accredited Main Street America program in recognition of exemplary commitment to preservation-
based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach®.
GMSA’s favorite award came from Gulfport High School as a Community Partner! It’s the love of working with one of the best high schools around that motives GMSA to their higher standard of conduct. >>
State wide and national recognition for the Gulfport Main Street Association.
