surgeries,” said Spencer. “That has been the best thing about my career. I enjoyed the process of devising surgeries that would benefit my patients. Every patient’s problem was unique and required application of different surgical principles to solve the problems which was the challenging portion of the practice and one part I dearly loved.”
Moving forward from his career, Spencer aims to continue making Jackson County a better place. “For now, I am doing some consulting for wound care centers and hyperbaric medicine centers, which could evolve into a part time endeavor,” he said. “I also have several trips planned and will concentrate on trying to improve
my tennis game.”
Spencer hopes to go on a scuba
trip with his wife, Mary, and take advantage of being able to go fishing when the fish are biting rather than just as his schedule allowed. He looks forward to spending time with his children and six grandchildren, one of whom won the local Soap
Box Derby and will participate in the National Soap Box Derby Race in Akron, Ohio, cheered on by his grandfather.
With his new found time at home, Spencer joked that his wife may now have to get used to a few quirks that may have been hidden over the years while he worked, adding “That may be a real challenge for her!”
