In a sign that junior golf in South Mississippi is alive and well, five local golfers have qualified to play in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship to be held this month at the Pinehurst Resort in
North Carolina.
Holden Levenson (age 7), Karstyn
Altese (age 7), Jack Lawson (age 8), Mateo Jimenez (age 12), and Katelynn Altese (age 12) all earned eligibility status to compete in the national championship by their exceptional play on the U.S. Kids Golf Gulf Coast Local Tour. All five junior golfers are members of Diamondhead Country Club.
The U.S. Kids Golf World Championship is the largest and most prestigious event in the world for players age 12 and under. This three- day tournament, held in the setting
of tall southern pines, attracts more than 1,200 participants from across the United States and more than 30 countries abroad.
To receive an invitation, junior golfers must complete the season as a top player in their age category and shoot the minimum score as required by the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship committee.
Congratulations to each of them and play well at Pinehurst!
