Winners of the 2024 Taste of Ocean Springs Food & Wine Festival were announced by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event. Trilby’s Fine Dining restaurant won the Best Entreé award; Sweet Enchantments took the prize for Best Dessert; and Sip Shine, the wine broker for Fort Bayou Wine & Spirits, was awarded Best Drink.
“More than 400 foodies from Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana attended this year’s event that took place outside the historic depot,” says Cynthia Sutton, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau. “We had a great time and want to thank all who helped and especially our sponsors.”
Nearly two dozen local restaurants and drink vendors from downtown and Highway 90 set up and offered
tastes from their menus during the event. Live music was provided by Swing Bridge and the annual commemorative plates were provided by South Mississippi Living magazine.

100 WOMEN DBA
SCHOLARSHIPS
The 100 WOMEN DBA announces winners of its third annual college scholarships to Hancock County and Bay High School graduates. The winners are Lee A’rie Simms, Constance Valladares, Amanda Gonzales Ponce, Kiara Johnson and Kiera Nicholson.
The organization raised funds for the scholarships throughout the year. Two of the scholarships are in memory of member Laura Lucore’s daughter, Elena Marie Lorenza Lucore.
“The 100 WOMEN DBA is a non-profit operating under 100 Men Hall seeking to levy the members’ collective privileges and resources to address both the gender and
racial biases that women and girls of color have faced for generations,” says Rachel Dangermond, director and owner of the Hall. “The membership supports the maintenance and preservation of the 100 Men Hall.”
Announcing the scholarships, Dangermond said, “The scholarships continue the mission of the 100 Men Hall to support the African American community in Bay Saint Louis and Hancock County, which has contributed to local architecture, building, industry, small business, art, food and music since its inception.
The 100 WOMEN DBA scholarship targets young women of color who might not have access to full scholarships or family resources for their college education.”
