   HANCOCK CHAMBER MIDYEAR MEETING AWARDS

 The Hancock Chamber of Commerce recently recognized community leaders and celebrated with a champagne brunch at Hollywood Casino-Gulf Coast. The Business Over Brunch midyear meeting had 320 attendees
and included reports from the Chamber, Community Development Foundation, Board of Supervisors and Port & Harbor Commission.
Highlights of the program were the announcement of Regan Kane as the 2024 Compretta Person of Passion, Mary M. Perkins as Board Member Emeritus and the 16 recipients of this year’s Small Business Grants.
Kane, owner/broker of John McDonald Realty, has been a leader in the industry since 1998. He has served as president of the Rotary Club and president of the Hancock County

The We Are Moss Point (WAMP) organization will hold its tenth Living Legends ball on July 27, beginning
at 4 p.m., at 1819 Pascagoula Street in Pascagoula. Honorees are Jackiee Howard, Dorothy Shaw and Steve Renfroe.

Perkins is the longest serving board member and the first to be named a lifetime board member.
The Small Business Grants were awarded by the Hancock County Community Development Foundation and were made possible by an $80,000 donation from the Mississippi Power Foundation.
Those receiving grants included Amur Aesthetics, Bay Life Gifts, Breath’s Boats & Motors, Doescher Designs, Dragonfly in the Bay, Fleurty Girl, French Potager, Get Stitched & Printed, Gotcha Covered, Hairworks, La Terre Farms, The Mystic Ghost Ride Company, Skydweller US, Unabridged Architecture, Waterslides of the Coast, and WorkWise.
“Empowering our community one initiative at a time through partnership and action is the mission of WAMP,” said ball chairman Charlotte Brown. “We’re dedicated
to a comprehensive approach that addresses the physical, environmental, mental, and social needs of our neighbors. We’re building on a legacy of uplifting the youth of our city. Our purpose is to foster community engagement, provide vital resources and help our neighbors flourish.”
Jackiee Francis Howard is the owner of Jackiee’s Designs Embroidery and More. She has produced and created hundreds of customized items for companies across the region.
Dorothy Shaw recently retired after a 51-year career with Ingalls Ship Building where she was director of compliance, ethics and EEO/D&I. She is a community activist and sits on numerous boards.
Steve Renfroe worked for Chevron for 35 years. He was actively involved in the startup of Mississippi’s Excel By 5 early childhood program, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center and Chevron’s daycare recovery project after Hurricane Katrina.
