Meet
Tyler Cox
Finding the right attorney is no small feat, but it all comes down to finding someone you have a good rapport with – someone you trust to have your best interests at heart.
From a young age, Tyler Cox knew he wanted to help people. “My parents were my biggest champions,” Cox recalls. “My dad is a farmer and my mom worked two jobs. Both encouraged me to pursue an education and find a career where I could make a difference without having to drive a tractor anymore.”
Following attending Mississippi College’s law school, where he also played football, Cox had the fortune of meeting Calvin Taylor in Ocean Springs City Court shortly after passing the Bar. “I guess I impressed him enough that he hired me on the spot,” said Cox. “He practiced criminal law, family law, and a little bit of civil defense. I learned from him, and these became my specialities as well.”
Cox has always kept his mission of helping others at the front of his mind. Over the years, he’s come to help countless individuals and families, each of which have a unique story to tell. “They come from all walks of life, in different situations, and in different stages of life. Sometimes, all they need is a little help. That tells me that no matter where you come from, what you’re doing, whether you’re in the best of times, or in the worst of times, you’re gonna need a little help every now and again. And at some point in life, you’re going to need someone to meet you where you are.”
That mantra has followed Cox throughout his career and woven itself into his day to day life. In addition to his private practice, Cox also servers as the Prosecutor for the City of Ocean Springs, having been appointed by the Mayor and the Board of Alderman. “I do my best to make sure that the citizens of Ocean Springs are represented well and those that try and harm the our citizens are held accountable.”

his work. “Our culture here is unlike any other place that I’ve lived. It could be its own state. The people of Jackson County are the best in the world. They’d do anything for you – they’d help you when you need it, and they’d never think of anything in return.”
Cox is happy to call Ocean Springs home. He and his beautiful wife, Katie, have been happily married since 2019 and share a young daughter, Caroline. “Both of those girls are the light of my life,” says Cox. “I do what I do and work as hard as I do because of them. That Caroline, even though she’s just two years old, is smarter than I am – a trait that she undoubtedly gets from her mother. You can ask anybody and they’ll tell you.”
Cox looks forward to continuing to return the compassion he’s received from the people of Jackson County back the community he loves so dearly. He is happy to say that all these years later, he was able to achieve his goal: making a difference. And yes, without the tractor.
