About This Issue
What do I love about this issue? It’s hard to pick a favorite! Rather unusual, but we actually have four special sections this month! I don’t have much room here, but let’s try to touch on all of them, shall we?
First, let’s talk about Gulfport’s birthday celebration! Can you believe the city is turning 125? We were so excited to work with the City of Gulfport on a special section honoring the achievements of this great city. Beginning with a letter from Mayor Billy Hewes, this section is full of great information, including photos of Gulfport from the early 1900s and those same landmarks as they are today. Special thanks to the Historical Society of Gulfport who provided much of the information in this section.
Next, it’s time to get your tourist on! Living in a tourism destination, we are blessed with top-notch dining, shopping, and entertainment options that are right here in our own backyard. Find your next Coastal Mississippi adventure in our Staycations special section! I guarantee you’ll discover something new to love.
State and county elections are right around the corner! Our third special section, On the Ballot, introduces some of those faces you’ve seen around town. Additionally, we’ve included a handy list of who is running for each position, including party and incumbent information. See you at the polls!
Last but not least, the 2023-2024 school year will be here before you know it. Are your kiddos enrolled yet? Our Private Schools special section includes listings of the area’s private schools. It’s not too late to register!
