This mood board shows how those colors might come together in a classic coastal kitchen. The colors are soft and have a watercolor feel. Consider painting walls, trim and cabinetry the same Oyster Gray (Benjamin Moore 864), but use a satin nish on the walls and a semi-gloss for trim and cabinetry.
Natural materials like the basketweave shell tile pictured here would make an elegant backsplash or feature wall. Polished nickel xtures are richer than chrome or brushed nickel and will add depth and warmth when re ecting the surrounding color palette.
If you are drawn to bold colors and love pattern, vintage Florida style might be your vibe. Think more saturated versions of the color palettes described above. I am currently decorating my own family’s Key West style cottage in this way.
A muted sky blue on cabinetry and interior doors will pair with navy, coral and green accents throughout the main living spaces. This style freely mixes patterns and gives you the opportunity to break the rules a bit with color. Walls in Sherwin Williams Greek Villa and trim in Pure White will allow the textiles and décor to take center stage.
The modern farmhouse style remains exceedingly popular and is very much at home here in the more rural areas of the Gulf Coast. The palette is strongly dominated with black and white, so I encourage my clients that are drawn to this style to choose a bold accent color. Weaving this accent color throughout the home adds interest and cohesiveness.
This Stablewood home used deep green as the accent color. From Black Evergreen cabinetry in the kitchen, to the geometric wall tile in the master bath and the green velvet dining chairs we used di erent hues of dark green in almost every room of the home; warming up the black and white without compromising the clean modern feel.
For the homeowner with ne family antiques and a more traditional color palette, I love decorating in a British Colonial style. Crisp blue and white textiles paired with dark natural wood and tropical greenery are timeless touches for coastal homes. The mood board below depicts a classic bedroom with chinoiserie touches.
