samosas at Orchid come two to an order and it is plenty of food to share as an appetizer. The fried treats were stuffed with mashed vegetables and spices and were excellent, especially with the house-made cilantro-mint chutney.
Vasani brought out a couple of dishes that he said were his best sellers – the tandoori mixed grill
and lamb in butter sauce. The mixed grill is served on a sizzling platter, much like fajitas in Tex-Mex joints. The dish featured chicken, shrimp and lamb sausage rubbed with
spices and roasted onions. There’s a reason it sells well – it was very tasty, especially the lamb sausage. But the lamb in butter sauce (Lamb Makhani) was my favorite thing I sampled.
Lamb can be both tough and gamey if it is not prepared correctly, but
the lamb in the Makhani was very tender and succulent. It was served in a velvety sauce made of butter and tomatoes with hints of cardamom, curry and cumin. The spices were very delicate and lightly accented

My wife Dayna was extremely satisfied with her vegetarian dishes. She opted for a pre fixe menu item, which allowed her to try three vegetarian dishes along with naan bread and a dessert. She loves paneer dishes. Paneer is essentially
an Indian-style cheese that is firm and mild, like tofu. She sampled the Paneer Masala, which featured the paneer in a creamy tomato sauce, and the spinach-based Palak Paneer. She also tried the vegetable curry. The paneer dishes contained plenty of paneer and the sauces were light and delicious.
