If you are a foodie, the Gulf Coast Culinary Society is a must- join organization for you this summer.
More than just another supper club, the Gulf Coast Culinary Society’s goal is to celebrate and preserve the Gulf Coast’s rich history and culture by making connections to our food roots.
This members-only group will provide exclusive opportunities to dine at culturally significant sites and unique settings with multi-course gourmet meals prepared by local and celebrity guest chefs from around
the Southeast region. Membership dues and event ticket proceeds will fund philanthropic work with area food charities, scholarships and other worthy causes.
“The Gulf Coast has an exciting and diverse history, and we believe that food is the one thing we all have in common. It’s time to celebrate our heritage and bring attention to local culinary gems, while giving back to some very deserving food-related charities,” said founding advisory committee member Wade Howk.
The society’s first affair, elegantly named “Bourbon & Pearls,” will benefit Feeding the Gulf Coast and
be held Thursday, October 18, at the historic White Pillars restaurant in Biloxi. Chef Austin Sumrall will be joined in the kitchen by renowned chefs Chris Hastings, a James Beard Award winner from Birminghan, Alabama, Alex Harrell from New Orleans, Louisiana, Derek Emerson from Jackson, Mississippi, and several other VIP chefs still to be announced. These celebrated chefs will be joined by area oyster farmers, along with high end bourbon and wine purveyors, offering tastings and valuable tips. In addition, diners can tour the White Pillars restaurant, which has been restored to its nineteenth century glory.
