Raising funds for mental health set for July 20
This year marks the 11th annual Don’t Worry Be Happy event benefitting the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi. It will be held July 20, 2018, at the Biloxi Civic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The evening will include a food tasting, band, silent auction and
raffle as well as the Annette O’Keefe Humanitarian Award and a live auction. “There will be so much going on, including about 350 attendees having a great time together,” said
Kay Daneault, executive director of the Mental Health Association.
By the Slice, Le Café Beignet, Fleur de Lis Gourmet Bakery, Glory Bound Gyro Co., Gulf Breeze Grill, Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort and Slap Ya Momma’s will be represented at the food tasting.
The Annette O’Keefe Humanitarian Award will be presented to
Todd Trenchard for his years of contributions to the Gulf Coast community. Todd serves as the

executive director of the Bacot McCarty Foundation and is heavily involved in the community, especially within Jackson County. He has served in many religious and civic groups including Home of Grace Recovery Center, Salvation Army of Jackson County, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Habitat for Humanity.
“Honorees from the Coast are putting together amazing packages for a live auction to help raise money,” said Daneault. “Some of the items to bid on are a three-day trip to Cancun, several hotel stays, a grilling package, a bridal package, gift certificates, jewelry and much more.”
Proceeds from the event will go towards providing resources and support services for those seeking wellness and recovery from mental health issues, intellectual disability disorders, substance abuse and homelessness issues.
