BOSAR welcome
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT...
story and photo courtesy of Summer Davis Shelby
I have thoroughly enjoyed serving this year as the President of Biloxi-Ocean Springs Association of REALTORS®. I have learned
so much and watched this Association grow together and the changes that occur in an election year. I am privileged to have worked with the best Board of Directors a President can have. These people are very passionate about their work, their families and this Association. Each year, a new set of challenges presents itself, and I was blessed to have this Board of Directors and this Association to call upon. I know we will continue to grow and thrive and change for the better in the coming years.

HOW TO CHOOSE A REAL
ESTATE PROFESSIONAL
Buying or selling a home is a major business transaction. Most buyers and sellers turn to real estate professionals to guide them through this process. But how should this professional be chosen? The Biloxi- Ocean Springs Association of REALTORS® (BOSAR) offers five important questions to ask when choosing a realtor.
How long have you been in the business? Also, consider the difference between a part-time real estate agent who sells a few properties for friends and relatives and someone who treats it as a full-time business venture.
What geographic areas and types of properties do you handle? Neighborhood expertise is key because neighborhood markets can have different quirks. Consider not only what agents tell you but also how they brand themselves. They may focus on
condominiums or single-family homes, or work with active duty military and veterans, or first-time buyers.
How will you communicate with me? A communication lapse of a few hours can mean the difference between an accepted offer and a missed opportunity. Choose an agent who responds quickly in the mode of communication that works for you.
Can you share references? In addition to interviewing potential agents, talk to their buyers or sellers. Also ask what portion of business comes from referrals or repeat business.
What will it cost me to sell this property? Buyers often don’t pay commission directly, but sellers do and the costs can vary from agent to agent. Also ask for a breakdown of estimated closing costs.
