Sometimes when the world starts spinning
a little too fast and the clamoring noise of a life fully engaged builds to a crescendo, a man just
has to shoot his way to serenity. Yes. Really.

Grind, a popular coffee house he owns on busy Cedar Lake Road just south of I-10. Then there’s the family ad agency he and his wife Margaret operate.
And let’s not forget the endless duties contingent to raising a 14-year-old son.
“I have so many things bouncing up in the air with two businesses and a teenage son that occupy a lot of my time,” he acknowledged. “So I go to
the range to clear my mind.” And a few rounds.
The range is the Coast Rifle and
Pistol Club on Highway 57 a few miles north of the interstate. There, Wilcox shoots away his anxieties with a rifle, a shotgun, or a pistol. It’s all part of what he ironically calls Group Therapy Firearm Training. The irony part comes from the fact that he is the
