HOME back bay beauty
THE LIVING AREAS are mostly white and gray with touches of silver and stainless steel. TOP: THE PARTY ROOM has glistening white floors and walls with windows overlooking the bay and turf field. It has a large screen TV, custom-made pool table and a corner bar. BOTTOM: THE MASTER BEDROOM and bath are simply stunning.
The home has a commanding view of Back Bay of Biloxi. “We were the first in this development to build on the water. I’m from here and I knew this was a great location,” Spinner said. “We can see the Popps Ferry Bridge and pretty sunrises and sunsets.”
The imposing brick facade opens into the living room with windows across the back to take advantage of the view. A grand piano is on the immediate left and sets the tone of the home with black and white photos of the three children on the music rest. Family photos — large and small, candid and formal — are used throughout, leaving no doubt as to the heart of this home.
In the past few years, Kelly Spinner has redecorated almost all the rooms in the trendy colors of white and gray with touches of silver and stainless steel. “I wanted more clean lines, and gray is the new neutral,” she said. “That included changing light fixtures and going for a more contemporary look.”
She likes wallpaper and chose timeless designs in gray, silver and cream. All trim is crisp white. She developed the dark glossy stain for the wooden floors used in a number of the rooms.
Upstairs, the media room and Bella’s room did not get the new-color-scheme makeover. Typical of a little girl, Bella’s room is pink. The media room, which is the scene of movie
and special-event television watching, has wood tones, shades of rust for the blackout curtains, recliners on two levels, a fully-functioning bar and lots of sports memorabilia. A children’s playroom is adjacent to the media room and features a built-in desk with three computers. “We usually have four to five boys here on weekends,” Spinner says of her sons’ friends.
On the first level, the kitchen has everything for someone who loves
to cook and entertain, including a big range, marble counter tops with subway tile backsplash, two dishwashers, center island and a drawer-style microwave. “I really like this type of microwave,” Spinner says as she pulls it out to demonstrate. “It’s great for the kids. I think everyone should have one.” >>
