Mothers have such an impact on the lives of their children as well as others, but occasionally even moms need a helping hand.
That’s why every year Two Men and a Truck Gulf Coast reaches out and connects with the community as part of the national Two Men and a Truck “Movers for Moms” program. The donation event provides essential items for mothers in need, no matter their circumstances. The 10-year Gulf Coast moving company collaborated for six weeks with 51 local businesses, organizations, and individuals to collect donations for Mother’s Day that benefit women and children who are living temporarily at the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence.
Sales and Marketing Manager Emily Sham, who owns Two Men and a Truck Gulf Coast with her husband Michael, said they go big every year with the campaign.
“We went all the way from Bay St. Louis all the way out to Gautier, so we stretched almost the entire Gulf Coast,” Emily Sham said. “And it’s because we just love giving back to our moms. I’m a mom, so I know what it feels like to have a little something extra special on Mother’s Day. We collected items such as pajamas, slippers, journals, and of course, toiletries, which are things some people take for granted.”
The collaboration is associated with the annual national program which is Two Men and a Truck’s national giving event aimed at assisting moms in need. Nationwide locations of Two Men and a Truck collect donations to deliver to women and family shelters each spring. The goal each year is to make the Mother’s Day holiday a special time for moms with donations, regardless of the woman’s circumstances and to help them get back on their feet and feel special. In 2022, the national program collected more than 266,000 items for donation to hundreds of shelters across the country.
If you missed the “Movers for Moms” campaign, there are lots of other ways to donate to the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence.
