About This Issue
The dreaded doctor’s visit. As children, many of us can recall the sense of unease that accompanied these necessary ventures, but as we grow older we realize that maybe these recurring visits aren’t so scary after all. What leads to that change of heart? I believe it’s the realization that doctors are people too.
That exact sentiment is the heart of this issue. Who are the people behind the masks and stethoscopes? The everyday heroes who heal us, our friends, our loved ones? Meet the Doctors is a chance to get to know these doctors in a different light. What are their hobbies? What do they wish their patients knew about their field? What inspires them?
In addition to answering these questions, our Meet the Doctors issue is a resource to be referred back to year- round. It’s not uncommon to wander upon a copy in homes, local health care offices, and even salons, pages dog-eared, edges torn. That’s what it’s for, after all – to help our readers find the right fit for them among the many smiling faces. The value of this magazine comes not from the paper, but from the health care heroes within its pages.

ly with your head.
From the bottom of our hearts, Team SML would
like to thank the many health care professionals of the Coast for their dedication to caring for our community. Reading about them, you’ll notice that many of them devote their days to helping those in need of medical care, and their free time is spent in much the same way. Community involvement is a common thread among these heroes, and one that often goes unnoticed.
So please join us in celebrating these amazing health care heroes, today and every day. Donate meals to hospitals and medical offices if you can, and share kind words of appreciation and encouragement with them whenever possible.
