Amazing
THE
HUMAN
Body
story by Victoria Snyder
Did you know that your body is made up
of billions of small structures? Cells, tissues, organs, and systems work together every day to help you live your life. Cells create tissues, which make up organs, which form organ systems.
The ten major systems include skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive. You may have know the cardiovascular system as the circulatory system, the lymphatic system as the immune system, and the urinary system as the renal system.
The “infrastructure systems,” made up of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, and nervous systems, specifically help the other systems. They allow the “regulation systems,” comprised of the endocrine, lymphatic, and urinary systems, to do their jobs. The “energy systems” (the respiratory and digestive systems) give all of these systems
the energy to work. And of course, each life begins thanks to the reproductive system.
Your body does so much work for you – it’s only fair that you put in some work to take care of it. Visit your doctor regularly. Incorporate healthy foods into your diet. Exercise, even if that means taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
