Growing up in the South, Dr. Caplis traveled throughout Mississippi, Texas, and Louisiana playing competitive soccer, which led to playing collegiate soccer at Louisiana Tech University. He had several sports-related injuries, which began his understanding of just how important the foot and ankle are to your health and abilities.
He graduated with honors from Centenary College of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine degree from Dr. William M. School College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago. During his medical school education, he also worked treating participants at the Chicago Marathon, Triathlon, and the three-day Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk. He later completed a highly intense three- year residency in Chicago where he served as Chief Podiatric Surgery Resident.
Dr. Caplis offers an array of foot and ankle services including specializing in sports medicine and foot surgery along with diabetic wound care. He offers in house X-ray, blood flow testing, nerve testing, custom fitting orthotics, braces along
with an extensive diabetic shoe program. Dr. Caplis traveled to San Salvador, El Salvador on
a medical mission offering free conservative and surgical treatment while in residency for patients with clubfeet and other foot deformities. Dr. Caplis is a member of the MS Podiatric Medical Association serving as Board Secretary. The association provides professional support for the field and currently advocates to increase the scope of practice in Mississippi.
He is a loving father who takes an active role with his son, Ethan. His passion for the arts has led
him to become a voting board member of the St. Tammany Parish Commission on Cultural Affairs.
