It’s summertime and Mother Nature is about to turn up the temperature in South Mississippi. We are entering the “burn ya slap up” months of the year. While we take pride in our ability to survive sweat inducing heat and stifling humidity, we are grateful for light breezes, shady spots along our quaint streets, and frozen popsicles. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is the new hot spot for travelers looking to beat the heat and experience some small-town hospitality this summer.

Mississippi tourism is booming, and visitors have lots of unique lodging options from one end of the state’s coastline to the other. From casino hotels to quaint Bed and Breakfasts, there is something for everyone. Here are a few of our favorite “homes away from home.”
Pye’s Tiny Eco Beach House in Waveland is a 596-square-foot “treehouse” built around the one oak tree on the property that survived Hurricane Katrina. Featured on television’s Tiny House Nation, this one-of-a-kind rental is a real charmer. It boasts two sleeping areas, an outdoor entertainment area, and is just steps from the beach.
Located in Bay St. Louis’ Historic District, Abode is a guest house offering abundant space for large families or folks who like to bring the village with them. There are two guest suites in the main house with three adjoining suites that can add even more room for fun. A billiard area, open kitchen with a large bar, and plenty of seating make The Abode a comfortable spot for all types of gatherings. The highlight of the property is an indoor pool that whisks you away to the tropics with lush greenery and resort style lounging.
