Brackin's 50th
high school reunion.
omething new has bloomed in Gulfport. It’s Sadie Jane’s Fresh, a sister store to Sadie Jane’s, which has been in business since 2008
creating all manner of wreaths and selling decorative home pieces. Now the owners, mother-and-daughter team Jeanne Brackin and
Ashley Fillingame, are offering a wide variety of fresh flowers and high-end gift items in an additional location.
“We’ve been asked about having fresh flowers and have been wanting to do it for a long time,” says Fillingame. “We will have a huge
walk-in cooler that we’re excited about and can have flower deliveries every day as needed. We will strive to keep the freshest flowers possible.”
Brackin adds, “It’s a God thing; that’s why we’re here – his provision and our faith.
Thanks to our wonderful ladies Carla, Jody, Cindy, and Roxy for their tireless efforts at Sadie Jane’s and to our loyal customers over the years. They helped us birth this place.” Liz Sorenson, with 45 years floral experience, is leading the team at Sadie Jane’s Fresh. They can do it all from births to weddings to funerals and everything in between. “We have flowers for all events and now we can do bigger events such as balls and charity events,” Brackin said.
The shop has a large assortment of flowers and customers can come by and purchase by the stem if they choose. Also, flowers can be delivered locally and customers can have standing orders. The shop has a nice selection of vases and containers or you may bring your own container for floral arrangements.
An example of what these ladies can do is reflected in photos of the outstanding Alice in Wonderland theme they created for Brackin’s 50th high school reunion. They were assisted by artist Judy Comeaux of Ocean Springs, and Tony Dee of Gulfport. “We are a one-stop shop for decorations,” Fillingame said.
The 2,400-square-foot space will have a fresh, airy look complete with vintage and antique furniture used for display and will be available to purchase. Other plans include conducting flower arranging classes.
“There was a need for this in the community and we can fulfill it,” Fillingame said. “When it’s hard to express your feelings in words, say it with flowers. Our customers over the years have been so loyal, and we look forward to serving them in a different capacity.”
Brackin’s favorite flowers are Gerber Daisies while Fillingame and Sorenson say theirs
are peonies.
