Couple’s Love of Art Grows Together

During their 30 years together, Dr. Ray and Hyla Weiss of Ocean Springs have grown their love of art into more than a passion, renovating their downtown Ocean Springs business into a gallery space for artists and developing their own artistic crafts as well.
“Our tastes in decorating, food, and art align well, which makes the gallery an easy fit for us as a couple,” says Hyla. They redeveloped the home of her 21-year old business, On the Menu, into My Happy Place, an art gallery and event space on Government Street.
Ray, an ear, nose, and throat specialist with Bay Area ENT, became interested in woodturning at the Peter Anderson Festival years ago and now is an accomplished woodworker, employing the same precision he uses during surgery to develop wood into pieces of art. He is one of the many artists featured at their gallery.
