ARAMEE BUDDHIST TEMPLE
volunteers continuously work to prep food while you wait, and the open-air atmosphere imparts a casual and incredibly inviting experience.
The MBM Gautier menu is simple enough for any newcomer, but just diverse enough to leave you coming back for seconds. Chicken curry or pork on a stick are prepped every Sunday and are a great way to start off your meal. Local favorites such as Thai spring rolls, crab Rangoon, and (my personal favorite), pork dumplings are hand filled, rolled, fried and steamed, each offering a pleasurable amount of Southeast Asian flair.
The Papaya Salad is a favorite amongst the monks and
is a wonderful, vegetarian-friendly option. The spicy, stir fried pork, served with rice and bell peppers is amazing and can be quickly cooled off with a glass of cold Thai Tea. Fried rice is served in an incredibly generous portion, but the absolute winner is the Pad Thai. Full of egg and served alongside green onions and bean sprouts, the Pad Thai is a warm and yummy representation of a well- known Asian dish. Complete your meal with coconut custard, fried bananas, or the signature Golden Thread dessert. Egg yolk is delicately drizzled into hot sugared water, creating a sweet, light and perfect ending to any Thai meal.
The Wat Buddhametta Mahabaramee Buddhist Temple Gautier invites people from all cultures and backgrounds into its doors. Opnititanit affirms that the leading principles of Buddhism encourage us to come together and love one another. What better way to do this than through the gift of food?
The WBM Order is proud to call Gautier and the Mississippi Gulf Coast its home
and looks forward to each Sunday when they can come together and
share their talents with the local community. Takeout is an
option, but this meal is best eaten at one of the many available picnic tables
where you can soak
up the delights of the temple and its people
and, for a few moments, travel to a distant and far away land. No passport required!
