 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
 Growing up in a culture where life revolves around the dinner table, Chef Chris Scivally took an interest in his dad’s cooking. His dad’s hobby was his inspiration to become a chef. The Shreveport, Louisiana. native has been the corporate chef for The Blind Tiger and Marina Cantina restaurants since November of last year.
Scivally said he started out working in the restaurant industry early on as a busboy while in high school and also had a job shucking oysters. He graduated from culinary school in 1998 and has worked with Chef Susan Spicer
in New Orleans, in addition to restaurants at Beau Rivage and the former Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi. He’s trained in Italian and classic Mediterranean cuisine.
He says one of his favorite things about being a chef is the creative aspects of the career. “Being a chef is an art; it’s a passion,” Scivally said. “You need to take your time with it, because there’s a lot to learn.”
The Blind Tiger and Marina Cantina are members of the Mississippi Coast Restaurant & Beverage Association.
