BROADCAST STUDENT OF THE YEAR
2019
News 25 and The Bannister Foundation have recognized Vancleave High School senior, Wade Taliancich, as the 2019 Broadcast Student of the Year with a $2,000 scholarship and career shadow day.
“We chose Wade for his writing and interviewing skills, his impressive grade point and his contributions to his school’s journalism program,” says News Director Joe Sullivan.
“It was so hard choosing between these two young men. We were very impressed with Garrett’s video and wanted to support his career aspirations as well,” says The Bannister Foundation’s Dan Burton.
“There was no wrong choice here, both were deserving

of the honor. It came down to college plans. Wade
planned to go directly into the Journalism program at USM while Garrett plans to
attend a community college before declaring a major,” says
Sullivan.
The Broadcast Student of
the Year scholarship program is something WXXV hopes to continue to offer to local High
School seniors for many years. When you have a great partner
like the Bannister Foundation that is committed to supporting
arts education, all things are possible! Thanks also goes to Savarese & Associates and
Beach Windz Travel & Events for their sponsorship. “We look forward to hiring them both in the future!”
adds Sullivan.

As the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season approaches, the WXXV25 Hurricane Authority team has you covered. The Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1 and lasts until November 30; the greatest potential for storm activity occurs during the months of August and September when the warmest sea-surface temperatures develop over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Everyone should take time to ensure that their family, household, and workplace is properly prepared for a potential hurricane or tropical storm. It only takes one storm to severely impact a community and disrupt our way of life.
