“In felling operations 90% of accidents and death happen within the first 15 seconds of the tree falling and within 5 feet of the base of the felled tree,” said Will. “That’s why we take safety so seriously.
We also stay up-to-date on arborist safety and education through our ISA certification, which keeps us knowledgable and informed.”
You could say that Joe and Will know just about all there is to
know about trees, but they’re always learning and improving on their techniques. “It’s an art form really,” Joe said. “While everything we do falls within American National Standards Institute(ANSI) regulations, Will and I each have our own style. It’s an honor for us to take care of these old trees. We don’t consider ourselves tree huggers, more like tree conservationists.”
The two offer a wide range of services, including consulting, supplemental support and risk assessment. However, one of their passions is educating people on
the importance of trees. “We plan to host public conferences where we discuss topics like planting and structural pruning,” Will said. “The driving force behind everything we do is teaching others and creating a future that the next generations can enjoy.”

Since Will joined the team full
time in 2017, he has helped his father to elevate the company especially in terms of safety. “As an offshore worker, safety was always our biggest concern,” he said. “Working in a potentially hazardous environment like this where we are often climbing trees or removing them entirely, it’s important that we follow safety guidelines. Hazardous
situations become dangerous when they are handled incorrectly.”
Not only is Loftus Tree Service insured with liability and
workers’ compensation insurance, they make a point to
always use personal protective equipment (PPE). You won’t
see any of their workers without a hard hat,
