The Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs (JABOS) will host its 13th annual Gala for the Kids on Friday, June 22, in the Beau Rivage Resort Casino’s Magnolia Ballroom. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and include musical entertainment by the Nola Dukes Band, live and silent auctions, split the pot, food, cash bar and more.
“Through this event we raise the funds needed to carry out all of our service projects for the coming year,” said JABOS President Stephanie Payne. “Its success is critical to flawless execution of our service projects. The more funds we raise, the more children
and youth we can serve and the larger impact we can make in their lives and future.”
This year’s theme is “Dreams of Wonder: the Lion, the Kids and the Wardrobe,” which pays tribute to the popular C.S. Lewis Chronicles of Narnia series. The dress code for the gala is black tie optional.
To attend the Gala for the Kids, donate auction items, or become a sponsor, visit www.501auctions.com/jabos or contact any JABOS member.

story by Lynn Lofton photo by Donn Hupp
IP Casino Resort & Spa recently made a $175,000 contribution to the Bacot McCarty Foundation, bringing total donations to more than $2 million over 10 years.
“Boyd Gaming Corporation and the IP Casino Resort & Spa are proud, long- time supporters of the Bacot McCarty Foundation, a great organization that helps support essential community programs throughout the Gulf
Coast,” said Duncan McKenzie, vice president and general manager of
IP. “Additionally, many of our team members give their time and talents generously to Bacot McCarty. Vincent Schwartz, senior vice president of Boyd Gaming, has served on their board of directors for the past three years, and a
number of our team members also serve as volunteers for Bacot McCarty and the non-profit organizations the foundation supports.”
Speaking of the impact IP’s contributions make in the community, Bacot McCarty Executive Director Todd Trenchard said, “It has changed the entire landscape of what we’ve been able to accomplish as it has allowed us to put on the premiere events in our region where we develop countless relationships while helping numerous organizations and children’s lives.”
The foundation assists with Dream Program, YMCA, Ronald McDonald House, Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Boy Scouts, Young Life, and many others.
