HOME well blended
nearby harbor. “We enjoy having these doors open to the terrace and having a fire out there for entertaining,” McNeel said. “We love living in Pascagoula and feel like it’s idyllic.”
Graceful arches lead from room to room and 10-foot ceilings add to the air of spaciousness. The wide-plank engineered flooring used throughout the home is made from European White Oak. “I did quite a bit of research on floors,” McNeel said, “and we’ve been happy with it.”
Custom drapes were made locally by Martha Tyler. Fabrics and several pieces of furniture are from
Ashley Grant’s White Bungalow in Ocean Springs.
A New Orleans father and son duo made the custom chandeliers, wall sconces and drapery hardware. Wide crown molding and crown headers over doors and windows are used in all the downstairs rooms. There are lots of area rugs in muted colors that the McNeels have acquired through the years. “The colors are consistent with what we’ve always liked, and we’ve always liked a lot of white, which we find relaxing,” McNeel said.
Sometimes it’s the small touches that give a home personality. The big, oval glass door knobs are such a touch in this home.
Explaining that the family takes a “team approach”
to cooking, McNeel points out features in the kitchen with its openness to a dining spot and family room. The kitchen cabinets are white with marble counter tops. “I wanted a china cabinet but not necessarily in the dining room,” she says about the built-in, lighted cabinet made of white oak in the kitchen. Aidan Gray bar stools were updated with white leather upholstery to accommodate any spills that might happen. A well-equipped outdoor kitchen and dining table are visible through the back windows.
An unusual white washed barrel ceiling made of tongue and groove leads the way along a short hallway to the master suite. A large four-poster bed, curio cabinets and colorful paintings contribute to the beauty of the bedroom.
There are three bedrooms and a playroom upstairs. Each of the children’s bedrooms is a reflection of the occupant’s age and interests, including the extensive collection of Madame Alexander dolls in Mollie’s room.
GRACEFUL ARCHES AND WIDE- PLANK FLOORING lead from room to room, with beautiful oval glass door knobs.
