Time to shake it up
story by Lynn Lofton
It’s time to shake it up for
wishes and a good time at the
12th Annual Martini Shakedown
on July 9 at the Beau Rivage Resort.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for this Coast casual event that raises funds for Make-A-Wish Mississippi.
“This is a can’t-miss event that will have everyone rockin’ as they sip some of the best martinis and are entertained by the one and only Bag of Donuts out of New Orleans — back by popular demand — all while helping our mission of making wishes come true for our Mississippi kids,” said Shellie Moses, South Mississippi director.
The event will feature an array of tempting food prepared by the Beau Rivage’s chefs and a silent auction with amazing vacation getaway packages, unique one-of-a-kind items and Martini gift packages.
Make-A-Wish Mississippi is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children suffering from life- threatening medical conditions.
Advance tickets start at $75 per person and are $100 after July 9. A limited number of corporate sponsorships are available.

“Last year’s inaugural show brought more
than 20,000 people to Waveland’s shores for an unforgettable night of rocking sounds and flashing lights over peaceful Gulf waters,” said Charlie Cornelius, a member of the group planning the event. “Everyone is invited to join us for this celebration with music from the Silver Slipper Casino’s stage by Category 6, a patriotic menu of coastal cuisine and
a fireworks show that will light up the skies with an intense flow of explosive pride.”
The Silver Slipper Casino’s Dave Hilbert and Pelican Events’ Dolph Federico will serve as masters of ceremonies for the festivities.
The city and generous community sponsors are hosting the event.
