“She was the smartest person in residency,” said Dr. Andrew Adams when describing his soon-to-be wife. “She was the cutest, most adorable. And she was the biggest nerd. I was the second biggest nerd.”
“He was always the first one who offered to help anyone, no matter who needed it,” she added. Her fiancé brushes off the compliment with a joke, but his mother adds, “It’s true!”
The partnership continues as Dr. Andrew Adams and Dr. Bayles work together practicing at Hancock Medical Family Medicine in Bay Saint Louis.
“Family medicine is synonymous with primary care in a lot of ways,” explained Dr. Bayles. “We see different age groups, typically age four through old age.”
“Essentially we focus on the care of the whole person, children to adults,” added Dr. Andrew Adams. “We are someone’s personal physicians. We focus on wellness.
If you end up seeing my father, you most likely have something wrong with your stomach and gastrointestinal system. You would come see us to establish a relationship and focus on wellness. We try to take care of whatever problem you have first, whether it is getting an X-ray or a
referral to a specialist.”
In addition, Dr. Andrew Adams works as the team
physician for St. Stanislaus College football team, working closely with trainer Peter Hoffer and looking after injured players. “I played high school football,” he explained. “I love high school football, and I love St. Stanislaus. They have a great bunch of kids, a great team.”
During football season, Dr. Andrew Adams can be found on the sidelines on Friday nights, and he sometimes travels with the team.
Helping people, it seems, is just a part of what makes the Adams family truly something special.
