The BrewPaddle Cafe
For a young couple armed with culinary experience and a vision to have their own restaurant, the dream came true on September 26 of last year when The BrewPaddle Cafe opened inside the Bella Hotel in Biloxi. Rachel and Scott Plauche moved back to the Coast in 2020 to be near extended family. They had a couple of goals in mind but admit they had no idea what awaited them.
While the name of their business may seem strange, there is a reason for it. Before his sudden passing in January 2021, Rachel’s father bought what seemed to be a random Christmas gift for Scott, a brew paddle, a tool generally used
to brew beer. “At the time it didn’t make any sense,” Rachel recalls. “After his passing, we soon felt as if Pop had left us with one last nudge of encouragement and support. Since then it has become the name and symbol for our cafe. Pop’s initials are in our logo, and we have a sweet coffee drink dedicated to him.”
The original brew paddle is hanging in the kitchen for now but Rachel says it will find its way to the dining room eventually.
The menu includes artisan breads, pastries, gourmet French-influenced breakfast and lunch. House specialties are sourdough croque madame sandwiches and fresh tartines. No matter what menu item you choose though, you’re sure to be back for seconds (and thirds).
