Philip Harris

Known as “Uncle Phil,” Chef Philip Harris is one of the most talented and passionate chefs in the business. His love of people, and food, shine in every dish. “The people of the Gulf Coast are inviting and loving people,” he says. “I enjoy cooking for them.”
His favorite meal to prepare for himself? The ribeye steak. “I always see myself sitting and enjoying a nice ribeye, perfectly grilled, with a wonderful glass of red wine.”
Harris is highly regarded by both his restaurant sta and leadership. “Chef
is a teacher with very high standards that are never compromised,” says Food & Beverage Director Ashley Ellis. “He invests time in everyone on his team to ensure that they all perform at a high level.”
Growing up in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Harris always dreamed of being a chef. “After graduation I started cooking
at one of the resorts on the island,
and after two years I was sent to The Culinary Institute of America where I was exposed to a whole new world of cooking.”
From there, he relocated to Mississippi where he met his wife, later moving to Vermont where he was a banquet chef at a premier resort. “My time there taught me a lot about dietary needs and the farm to table movement. I was able to work with some great chefs that
demanded perfection and would stop at nothing to achieve it, but the call
of South Mississippi pulled me back home. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that I’ve had to join the Hollywood Culinary team.”
